You really don’t need to plan much to have a great day at Sierra. That’s kind of our whole thingโyou show up, you ride + you have fun. But there’s SO much to explore at Sierra, from the flowing slopes, to the delicious food + rockin’ live music, it can be hard to know where to begin. We’ve put together a few tips and tricks to help anyone experience the best of what Sierra-at-Tahoe has to offer, from the vert-counting thrill seekers to first timers and everyone in between. Hereโs how to set yourself up for a smooth, fun day on the mountain.

Do you like cruising endless rolling groomers? Prefer hunting for powder stashes? Want to level up your skills in a supportive environment? How about sending big off natural features or sculpted lips? Whatever your game is, Sierra has the terrain for you. We can’t wait to welcome you for the 2026/27 seasonโwe’re celebrating our 80th Anniversary!
Parking Reservations
New for the 2026/27 winter season, Sierra-at-Tahoe is implementing parking reservations on weekends and holiday periods, free for passholders and for those with 4+ people in a car. This comes after feedback from guests and our local community regarding the impacts of its first-come, first-served parking model on high-volume days. By implementing parking reservations, the program will give guests peace of mind that parking will be available before they leave their homes, while helping reduce traffic impacts and carbon emissions.
Parking reservations for non-passholders and non-carpoolers (4+/car) will be $25/day. More information on reservations will be released in Fall 2026.
Check Conditions Before You Leave
Before you hit the road, take a few minutes to check the Snow Report on Sierra-at-Tahoeโs website. By texting โconditionsโ to 833-264-8516, youโll have real-time updates on whatโs happening on the mountain for parking, conditions, events + more. Weather at Sierra can change quickly. Knowing what terrain is open, which lifts are spinning + what conditions to expect helps you plan smarter. A quick check at home can save you time and hassle once you arrive.

Snow Play at Sierra
Don’t know how to ski or snowboard? No problem! Sierra is your spot for tubing and snow play. Welcome to Blizzard Mountainโwhere the whole family gets to act like kids. Two lift-served tubing lanes, conditions permitting, a sprawling snow play area + a dedicated sledding zone mean everyone from toddlers to grandparents can find their version of winter fun.
How to Ride Smart
A great day on the mountain starts with skiing and riding responsibly. Review the Ski CA Safety Guide, follow posted signs + stay aware of your surroundings. Give others space, control your speed + choose terrain that matches your ability level. When everyone rides smart, the mountain stays fun for all. Decide where youโll start, set a meeting spot if youโre with a group + have a general idea of when youโll break for lunch. A little direction makes the day smoother.
Mountain days are long, especially when youโre having fun. Eating beforehand, staying hydrated throughout the day + taking short breaks make all the difference. Our mountain offers many options for you to grab a quick bite or snack. Mamaโs and Javaโs, opening at 8:30AM, is the best place for breakfast and coffee. For Lunch? Swing by 360 Smokehouse at the Top of Grandview for BBQ or Baja Grill at the bottom of West Bowl for Tacos.
RelaxโYou’re at Sierra
As the day winds down, plan a lap youโll enjoyโsomething smooth, scenic, or familiar. Ending your day intentionally makes it more memorable and helps avoid leaving the mountain fatigued. Not quite ready to head home? Stop by The Pub for Happy Hour from 3-5PM to relax, refuel + recap the best moments of the day.
