How much does a lift ticket cost at Sierra-at-Tahoe? 

Window rate lift tickets for the 2025/26 season start at $150/day for adults, $135/day for young adults (13-22) and $62/day for children (5-12). Guests are encouraged to book online in advance for the lowest rates.  

Does Sierra-at-Tahoe offer multi-day passes or discounts? 

Yes! Sierra-at-Tahoe offers 3-day packages for lift tickets, lessons and rentals at a discounted bundle rate. You can use them for three consecutive days or spread the days out over the season.

What perks / benefits do I get with my Season Pass? 

Each Sierra-at-Tahoe Season Pass gives you 20% off on-mountain purchases and a number of discounted Buddy Tickets. Other passholder benefits depend on the type of pass purchased (Unlimited, Play or Weekday) but may include access to Powder Alliance resorts, select โ€˜Bring a Friend for Free Fridaysโ€™ and more.

Are there group rates or student / corporate discounts? 

Yes, Sierra-at-Tahoe offers group rates for parties of 20 or more people along with corporate discount programs.

What is the refund or cancellation policy? 

To cancel your order or get a refund you must request it online at least two days before your reservation for a full refund or rebooking.
Season Passes and lift tickets have different refund policies. Please visit our policies page to learn more.

What is the Buddy Ticket or friend discount program? 

Every Sierra-at-Tahoe passholder gets a number of discounted Buddy Tickets to give to friends or family. Buddy Tickets can only be purchased in-person, not online. Exclusions and restrictions apply.

Mountain Information + Terrain

How many lifts and trails does Sierra-at-Tahoe have? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe has 14 lifts with 50 trails across its 2,000 acres of skiable terrain. The lift system includes three express quad chairlifts, five double chairlifts, one triple chairlift, and five surface lifts.

What is the terrain breakdown (beginner, intermediate, advanced)? 

Sierra-at-Tahoeโ€™s terrain is made up of 25% beginner (Easier), 50% intermediate (more difficult), and 25% advanced (most difficult) runs.

What is the vertical drop and base / summit elevation? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe features a 2,212-foot vertical rise with a base elevation of 6,640 feet and a summit elevation of 8,852 feet.

What is Sierra-at-Tahoeโ€™s longest run? 

Sierra-at-Tahoeโ€™s longest run is Sugar nโ€™ Spice, a green run stretching 2.5 miles from the top to the bottom of the mountain off Grandview Express. 

How much snow does Sierra-at-Tahoe get each year? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe receives an average of over 400 inches of snowfall each year. For the latest on snowfall + weather visit the snow report.

Are there terrain parks at Sierra? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe features seven award-winning terrain parks for all levels of progression, including the Progression Park, Broadway Park, Aspen Park, Smokey Boardercross, The Alley, Upper Main Park and Upper Snowshoe Park.

Does Sierra-at-Tahoe offer night skiing? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe does not offer night skiing. During winter operations, the resort operates on the following hours:
Monday – Friday: 9 AM – 4 PM
Saturday – Sunday + Holidays: 8:30 AM – 4 PM

Does Sierra offer backcountry access? 

Yes, you can access backcountry terrain from Sierra-at-Tahoe via the five Huckleberry Gates at your own risk. If you are entering backcountry terrain you should alway carry and be prepared to use an avalanche beacon, shovel and probe.

Does Sierra allow uphill travel?

Uphill access is not allowed while pre-season mountain preparations are in progress, during low snow conditions when the resort or portions of it are not open to the public; during avalanche mitigation work, and/or during other resort operational work impacting public areas. 

All uphill users are required to read and sign an Uphill Access release of liability prior to pass issuance or uphill access.โ€ฏ 

Users must abide by the rules and regulations established by Sierra-at-Tahoe and USFS when accessing Sierra-at-Tahoe for uphill access.

Travel, Parking + Getting Here

How do I get to Sierra-at-Tahoe? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe is located off Highway 50 about 12 miles west of South Lake Tahoe. The nearest major airports are Reno-Tahoe International Airport (approximately 75 miles away) and Sacramento International Airport (about 98 miles away).  There are several third-party bus operators that offer transportation to Sierra-at-Tahoe.

Is parking free at Sierra-at-Tahoe?

Yes, Sierra-at-Tahoe offers free parking and does not require a reservation. Parking is based on mountain capacity on a first-come, first-served basis. Lots can fill up quickly on busy days so arriving early is recommended. 

Sierra also offers Preferred Parking for $35/day.

Is there a shuttle or bus service to the resort? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe does not offer shuttle or bus services from downtown South Lake Tahoe to the resort. However, in partnership with Sports Basement, the resort offers a roundtrip shuttle service from the Bay Area. Visit Sports Basement to learn more.

Is there lodging or hotels near Sierra-at-Tahoe? 

While there is no lodging at Sierra-at-Tahoe, there are several lodging options near the mountain. South Lake Tahoe and Meyersโ€”just 20 minutes from the resortโ€”offer a range of hotels, vacation rentals and lodges.

Does Sierra-at-Tahoe rent ski + snowboard equipment? 

Yes, Sierra-at-Tahoe offers ski and snowboard equipment rentals for all ages and skill levels. Rental packages can include skis, snowboards, boots and helmets.

Does Sierra-at-Tahoe offer lessons for kids + adults? 

Yes, Sierra-at-Tahoe offers lessons for both kids + adults across all ability levels, with private, group,and adaptive lesson options available. The โ€˜Childrenโ€™s Ski and Ride School at Wild Mountainโ€™ provides a variety of lessons tailored to different age groups and skill levels, while the adult โ€˜Learn to Ski and Ride Centerโ€™ offers a variety of different lesson programs based on level and goals. 

Reservations are recommended especially during peak periods to ensure availability.

Are there lockers or storage facilities at Sierra-at-Tahoe? 

Yes, Sierra-at-Tahoe offers a limited number of day-use storage lockers available on a first-come, first-served basis. Personal gear is not permitted to be left unattended inside the lodges. Extra equipment can be stored inside your vehicle which is a popular option among visitors. 

Can I bring my own food to Sierra-at-Tahoe? 

Yes. Sierra is proud to have 9 different restaurants and bars located around the mountain for guests to enjoy. Outside food and drinks are not permitted inside lodge facilities that offer restaurant services, but guests may enjoy a bagged lunch at Solstice Eatery for up to 30 minutes. The resort also provides several designated picnic areas for guest use. Please note that outside alcohol is not allowed anywhere on the property, including picnic areas. 

Are there restaurants or dining options on the mountain? 

Yes, Sierra-at-Tahoe offers a variety of dining options via its 9 restaurants and bars. At the base area guests can access Solstice Eatery, Mamaโ€™s Kitchen, The Sierra Pub and Aspen Cafe, serving everything from breakfast and burgers to salads and sandwiches with daily happy hour in The Sierra Pub. On-mountain (accessible only by skiing or snowboarding), enjoy 360ยฐ Smokehouse BBQ with a lake view at the top of Grandview Express or Baja Grill at the bottom of West Bowl offering fresh mexican fare and a scenic view of Pyramid Peak.  

Is there WiFi or cell coverage at Sierra-at-Tahoe? 

Guests can access free WiFi throughout Sierra-at-Tahoe’s base area and lodges. Cell service may vary depending on your carrier and where you are on the mountain.

When does Sierra-at-Tahoe open and close for the season? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe typically opens in late November/ early December and closes in mid-April, conditions permitting.

What are Sierra-at-Tahoeโ€™s daily operating hours?

Do I need to reserve lift tickets in advance? 

No, you do not need to purchase your tickets in advance, though it is strongly encouraged. Purchase lift tickets online ahead of time for a lower rate and to skip lines at the ticket window. When you buy in advance, online, you can print your tickets at Sierra’s Ticket Pick-Up Boxes.

Is Sierra-at-Tahoe fully open after the Caldor Fire? 

Yes Sierra-at-Tahoe is fully re-open following the 2021 Caldor Fire, welcoming guests to experience the new terrain and the addition of two new trails in West Bowl.

What special events or concerts are held at Sierra-at-Tahoe? 

From live music in The Sierra Pub to signature celebrations like Subaru WinterFest, Vans Methodology and the Sierra Playgrounds Party, thereโ€™s always something fun happening at Sierra. Check out our Events Calendar to plan your visit.

Policies + Accessibility 

Are dogs allowed at Sierra-at-Tahoe? 

Dogs are not allowed on the ski trails, surface carpets or chairlifts at Sierra-at-Tahoe. Dogs are permitted in the parking lots but must be on a leash and controlled at all times when outside of vehicles. 

What are Sierra-at-Tahoeโ€™s safety rules + mountain policies? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe asks guests to follow and respect the NSAA Responsibility Code emphasizing control and following open/closure signage. Guests must obey lift and terrain rules, stay out of closed or glade areas and never ski or ride out of control or while impaired.

Are drones allowed at Sierra-at-Tahoe? 

Unauthorized drones and all other unmanned remote-controlled aircraft are not permitted to be flown anywhere on resort property for photography, video or any other use. This restriction includes aircraft that would be launched off-site but subsequently flown above resort property. 

Violation of this policy may result in the suspension of your riding privileges at Sierra-at-Tahoe.

Does Sierra-at-Tahoe accept cash? 

Sierra-at-Tahoe is cashless. All transactions across the resort require a credit or debit card, smartphone or smartwatch. Please note that there are no ATMs on-site.

Are there reciprocal passes accepted from other ski resorts? 

Yes, Sierra-at-Tahoe accepts the Ikon Pass and is a part of the Powder Alliance.

Ikon Pass Holders receive a set number of days at Sierra depending on their pass type.

Passholders at other Powder Alliance resorts get 3 days of access to Sierra-at-Tahoe, Sunday – Friday, non-holiday.

Are there accessibility accommodations for guests with disabilities? 

Yes, Sierra-at-Tahoe is committed to providing an inclusive experience for guests with disabilities. The resort offers adaptive lessons for a range of both physical and intellectual needs taught by certified instructors for children and adults. Additionally, Adaptive Season Passes are available.
