Sierra-at-Tahoe Reopens to Celebrate 75 Years of Sierra with a Special Weekend-Only Event
Sierra to host Subaru WinterFest and Van’s Methodology April 9-10, 2022 to celebrate its 75th anniversary with a weekend filled with live music, giveaways, competitions and even skiing.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – March 11, 2022 – Sierra-at-Tahoe will reopen on April 9 and 10, 2022 with a special weekend-only event to celebrate 75 years of Sierra. After nearly a year of unforeseen events and unknown obstacles caused by the Caldor Fire, Sierra is excited to welcome guests back to the mountain for a one-time-only weekend of winter play with Subaru WinterFest and Vans METHODOLOGY.
On Saturday, April 9, Sierra will bring back the annual Subaru WinterFest, a one-of-a-kind music and mountain lifestyle tour that invites the community to share their love of adventure and all things winter. The event will kick off the 75th anniversary weekend celebration with live music, a food and gear marketplace, on-site sustainability demonstrations, and Subaru owners will receive special gifts while supplies last.
To continue the celebration weekend, METHODOLOGY Presented by Vans will host the last stop of its nationwide tour on Sunday, April 10, for a snowboard competition that gives riders an opportunity to test their speed and style. Registration is $25 per rider, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the Sierra-at-Tahoe Education Foundation to support Sierra employees impacted by the Caldor Fire. Pre-registration is encouraged when registration opens on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
“I look forward to bringing our winter family back together where we can all reconnect, share memories, continue to heal and begin to look towards Sierra’s future,” says Sierra-at-Tahoe General Manager John Rice. “This weekend is more than just a celebration of our 75-year legacy, it is also an opportunity to thank our incredible community and loyal passholders for sticking by us in these challenging times.”
Lift Tickets will be $60 for adults and young adults and $50 for children and super seniors and will be available for purchase at 8AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 on Sierra’s website. With a limited amount of pre-purchase tickets available, tickets are expected to sell out in advance, and day-of ticket sales will be limited based on parking availability. To help share the stoke for all looking to come celebrate and accommodate parking, Sierra strongly encourages carpooling with friends and family and arriving early in the morning or catching afternoon turns.
Rock Garden, Easy Rider Express and Slider Carpet will spin allowing guests the opportunity to scan their pass or ticket and take a few turns during this legendary year. Spring skiing wouldn’t be complete without laps in the terrain park, and features will be offered for all abilities to enjoy and jib. Before the winter season comes to a close, Sierra is excited to give the community the opportunity to take a lap during its 75th anniversary and envision what the next chapter of this timeless resort will be.
