SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – January 22, 2014 – Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort team riders and South Lake Tahoe locals Jamie Anderson, Maddie Bowman, and Hannah Teter will invade Aspen, Colorado, this upcoming weekend, January 22-26, 2014 for the Winter X Games. All three Sierra Resort athletes have pre-qualified for X Games and will shoot to land on the podium.
Well-known for its commitment to both freestyle terrain parks and maintaining one of Lake Tahoe’s best halfpipes, Sierra Resort is proud to be home to some of the best athletes in the world.
In addition to competing at X Games, all three athletes have been invited to represent the United States of America in the upcoming winter games, located in Russia. X Games will be the last competition before Russia.
Jamie Anderson, Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle, is riding very strong and will look to land on another X Games podium. Anderson has won Slopestyle gold at Winter X Games four times, including last season, and was the youngest Winter X gold medalist ever in 2007. With a large bag of tricks, smooth style, and consistent riding, she is a strong favorite heading into this year’s Women’s Slopestyle. Anderson will compete on Saturday, January 25, 2014.
Maddie Bowman, Women’s Ski Superpipe, continues to ski well and will look to build on her first place finish in Aspen last season. Bowman has earned a podium twice in the past three seasons at X Games and will look to defend her title. Bowman is set to compete on Friday, January 24, 2014.
No stranger to Winter X Games and big events, Hannah Teter, Women’s Snowboard Superpipe, has her sights set on a podium finish at Winter X Games. Teter is determined to land on the podium using multiple tricks and big amplitude. Teter will drop-in on January 25, 2014.
In addition to a strong athlete connection to Winter X Games, Sierra Resort has a longstanding relationship with SPT, the company responsible for designing and building all of the courses at Winter X Games. SPT provides Sierra Resort with training, guidelines, building resources and design ideas throughout the winter season. That same brainpower is now building and maintaining the Slopestyle, Big Air and Pipe for Winter X Games and contributes to Sierra Resort athletes training, and competing on the best freestyle terrain in the nation.
Tune into ESPN and ABC all weekend long for live coverage from Winter X Games. Check your local listings for specific events and times or experience the games at the Sierra Pub with family and friends of the athletes.
