Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort Athletes Dominate Dew Tour
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. December 16, 2013 – Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort had five athletes compete at the Dew Tour this past weekend in Breckenridge, Colorado. The Dew Tour marked the first Olympic qualifier of the year for members of the US Freeskiing and US Snowboarding team. Three of the five team riders finished in the top ten, including victories from both Jamie Anderson and Maddie Bowman.
Picking up where they left off last season, Jamie Anderson and Maddie Bowman had a strong weekend placing first in their respected discipline. Anderson won Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle with a combination of smooth rail maneuvers and technical spins. Bowman earned the top spot in Women’s Ski Halfpipe with big amplitude and a clean cork 900.
On the men’s side, skiers Kyle Smaine and Robby Franco had a strong weekend and ended up with solid results. After a third place finish two weeks ago, Smaine continued to impress the judges and placed sixth in a stacked Men’s Halfpipe final. Smaine’s run consisted of big tricks including a 1260 and rodeo 540 screaming seamen. Franco made his first ever Dew Tour Men’s Slopestyle finals and walked away with a thirteenth place finish.
Men’s Slopestyle rider Mark Hoyt also competed this past weekend but wasn’t able to navigate out of the qualifying round. Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort athletes will look to build off their success this past weekend and land on the podium at the Grand Prix at Copper Mountain, Colorado, which will take place December 19-22, 2013.
